Tina Jane explores the interface between life and non-life, the aura inherent in artefacts and vessels referencing humans, directly and indirectly, the connections we make with them and each other.

Tina Jane's current paintings focus on group portraits showing herself and others posing as still life objects or adopting yoga poses which connect ancient asanas with a contemporary outlook manifesting irony, celebration and resilience.

Her self portrait is often juxtaposed with nostalgic and emotive icons, objects and characters, presented intuitively, focusing on negative space and the conversation between images, background and the viewer. Colours interact with luminous line, resonating a profound sense of narrative and unnerving enquiry.

Tina Jane's experience of textile design, illustration, printmaking and art education feed into a subtle arrangement of figures which relate to one another, while retaining independence and an outward looking mindset.

Focus on inanimate artefacts such as rag dolls or clown marionettes adds a nostalgic resonance, connecting past to future interactions between the animate and inanimate features of contemporary life, allowing the viewer to immerse themselves into the world presented in oil paint or etching.

Tina Jane’s love of indigo and natural materials, such as linen, combine with the provocative direct gaze of her figures.

Ongoing research seeks to question the predominance of human presence over vibrant matter, forging enquiry into equality and harmony between the natural world and the accepted norm for anthropocene survival.

Tina Jane’s work has been exhibited in London, Isle of Wight, Argentina, China and Spain.
