Communication Tools for PhD students across the RCA
This session is aimed at starting a conversation about digital tools to improve remote communication and exchange between PhD students across the RCA.
We will talk about students' needs and wishes, look into a selection of tools available (Slack, Discord and others) and address organisational aspects such as admin work and examples of community codes of conduct.
Yomiyat / Daily
We are a collective of three RCA PhD students that formed in response to the tragic Beirut blasts last year. We are growing organically as a group and aim to collaborate with artists/writers/makers who are connected to the Middle East in some way.
For this project we invited two other participants to share in a diaristic exchange, which is a daily practice on a digital platform. For this talk, we come together to discuss our experiences and reflections on keeping a diary together, as a way of sharing, forging creative friendships, or even just marking time together.
Design for Safety Grand Challenge
The pandemic has exposed major societal flaws in safety strategies - from political governance to confidence and trust in communications, supply lines and logistics, business models and the same resilience of individuals, institutions, systems and nations - which resulted in major economic, heath and physiological damage. In this context, the RCA School of Design launched a Design for Safety project supported by Logitech.
Within this panel discussion, the MRes Design Pathway students will present the research and projects created in response to this brief, imagining innovative solutions and strategies for saving and protecting life and learning to adapt.
Athenaeum: The Library Re-imagined
Join us for the launch of Athenaeum: The Library Re-imagined, a collaborative publication created by the RCA MRes Communication Design Pathway.
Working in dialogue with RCA library staff, the group set out to rethink the idea of the library during the pandemic era – as a site not only for encountering and categorising certain kinds of knowledge, but also a space (virtual or not) for dialogue and community.

Please join us for a breakfast tour featuring final research projects by the 2019/2020 RCA Master of Research students
Fiction Feeling Frame: 'How can we speak to each other?'
FFF presents the third in an ongoing series of collaborative performance lectures. These performances bring 2-3 FFF researchers into a process of group formation, of experimental method and display, and of building a research agenda around the question, 'how can we speak to each other?'
Following the performance lecture, a panel of FFF members will open up a discussion about methods of dialogue, collaboration, and transmediation in architectural and art research with the audience.
